Examination

At Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Institute of Management & Information Technology (SGTBIMIT), the examination and evaluation process for the BBA, BCA, and B.Com (Hons.) programmes is conducted in accordance with the academic regulations and examination scheme prescribed by Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU). The University follows a well-structured semester-based examination system that emphasizes continuous learning, academic integrity, and comprehensive assessment of students' knowledge and skills.

The evaluation process consists of Internal Assessment and the End Semester Examination . Internal Assessment is conducted by the institute throughout the semester and is designed to encourage consistent academic performance. Students are evaluated through a combination of class tests, assignments, presentations, quizzes, case studies, group discussions, practical work, viva-voce, projects, classroom participation, and other academic activities, depending on the nature of the course. This continuous assessment helps students strengthen their conceptual understanding while developing critical thinking, communication, and analytical skills.

The End Semester Examination, conducted by GGSIPU, is held at the conclusion of each semester. These examinations are centrally administered by the University to ensure transparency, fairness, and uniformity in evaluation across all affiliated institutions. The question papers are prepared by subject experts appointed by the University, and answer scripts are evaluated through a standardized process. Practical examinations, laboratory assessments, and viva-voce are also conducted for applicable courses under the supervision of internal and external examiners.

The weightage of Internal Assessment and End Semester Examination varies depending on the course. Theory papers generally include 40% Internal Assessment and 60% University Examination, while practical, laboratory, project, and skill-based courses may follow different evaluation patterns as prescribed by GGSIPU.

Students are also expected to maintain the minimum attendance prescribed by the University to be eligible for appearing in the semester-end examinations. Regular attendance, active classroom participation, and timely completion of academic requirements contribute significantly to the overall evaluation process.

SGTBIMIT maintains a transparent and student-centric examination system by adhering to the University's academic calendar and examination guidelines. Internal assessment records are maintained systematically, and students are informed of their academic progress throughout the semester. The institute also provides academic mentoring and support to help students prepare effectively for university examinations.

Through this robust evaluation framework, GGSIPU aims to foster academic excellence, practical competence, and professional readiness among students. The examination system not only assesses theoretical knowledge but also encourages the development of analytical, technical, managerial, and problem-solving abilities, ensuring that graduates are well-equipped to meet the demands of higher education and the professional world.
