The Anti-Ragging Committee of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Institute of Management and Information Technology (SGTBIMIT) is dedicated to fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment for all students. The Institute strictly adheres to the regulations and guidelines issued by the University Grants Commission (UGC), the affiliating university, and other statutory authorities regarding the prevention and prohibition of ragging.
SGTBIMIT follows a zero-tolerance policy towards ragging in any form, whether physical, verbal, psychological, written, online, or through any other means. The Institute believes that every student has the right to study in an atmosphere of dignity, mutual respect, and equality.
The Anti-Ragging Committee works proactively to prevent incidents of ragging by organizing awareness programmes, orientation sessions for newly admitted students, and sensitization campaigns that educate students about the legal consequences and ethical implications of ragging. Faculty members, administrative staff, and student representatives work together to create a supportive and welcoming campus environment.
The committee regularly monitors the campus, hostels (where applicable), common areas, and student activities to ensure that no student is subjected to harassment or intimidation. Students are encouraged to report any instance of ragging or misconduct without fear, and the committee ensures that every complaint is handled promptly, confidentially, and impartially.
In cases where any student is found involved in ragging, strict disciplinary action is initiated in accordance with UGC Regulations and the rules of the Institute. Depending on the severity of the offence, penalties may include suspension, expulsion, cancellation of admission, withholding of scholarships, or other disciplinary measures as prescribed by the competent authorities.
The Anti-Ragging Committee remains committed to nurturing a positive campus culture where students feel safe, respected, and empowered to achieve academic excellence and holistic development. Every member of the SGTBIMIT community shares the responsibility of upholding the values of dignity, harmony, and mutual respect, making the Institute a secure and welcoming place for learning and personal growth.
