About Society

Divinity Society – Nurturing Faith, Values, and Seva

The Divinity Society of our college stands as a vibrant platform for spiritual growth, cultural preservation, and moral enrichment. Rooted in the belief that education must nurture both the mind and the soul, the society aims to help students stay connected with their spiritual heritage while navigating modern academic life.

The society seeks to:

- Instill universal values of compassion, humility, seva, and gratitude drawn from Gurbani and other spiritual traditions

- Provide students a space for reflection, devotion, and inner peace amidst academic pressures

- Preserve and promote the art of Kirtan, Gurbani Path, and Sikh history through active participation

- Encourage community service and selfless action as an extension of spiritual practice

Events & Activities

This year, the Divinity Society conducted a diverse calendar of events that saw enthusiastic participation from students across all departments:

1. Competitions: Inter-departmental contests in Kirtan, Gurbani Path recitation, Shabad Gayan, and Sikh History Quiz were held. These events helped students refine their pronunciation, rhythm, and understanding of Bani while fostering healthy, devotional competition.

2. Spiritual Gatherings: The society organized monthly Samagams featuring kirtan by students and guest raagis, talks on Sakhis, and collective simran sessions. Major Gurpurabs were celebrated with Akhand Path, Ardaas, and langar prepared through student-led seva.

3. Seva Initiatives: Members actively participated in ‘Seva Week’ drives, including langar preparation, campus cleanliness, and visits to local charities. These activities translated spiritual learning into action.

4. Workshops & Talks: Interactive sessions on “Relevance of Gurbani in Student Life” and “Sikh Rehat Maryada” were conducted by faculty and invited scholars, helping students apply spiritual principles to daily challenges.

What defines the Divinity Society is the spirit of the students. From first-year undergraduates to final-year seniors, members have shown remarkable dedication — waking up for amritvela simran, practicing shabads after lectures, and volunteering during exams. The love and encouragement from faculty and parents have further strengthened the sangat, creating cherished moments of collective devotion.

The society aspires to expand its outreach by collaborating with other college societies, starting a digital archive of student kirtan, and introducing inter-college spiritual fests. We remain committed to being a source of peace, purpose, and positive energy on campus.

The Divinity Society welcomes all students, regardless of background, who wish to explore spirituality, serve the community, and find balance through faith.
